Wow ... look at that beautiful Koa grain on this tenor Live Edge Koa Ukulele. Unique Live Edge top and similar grain on the back. This unique Koa ukulele has rosewood accents in the bindings, arm bevel, bridge, side sound port, fret board and head stock veneer inlay. The fret board inlay has a dancer in a treble clef design. If you were only interested in impressing your gig friends with a great looking one-of-a-kind ukulele ... this one would be a great choice.
Sound? Oh, sound is important to you also? Not a problem. The Koa gives this ukulele a wonderful, warm sound. Strung with Worth Brown Low G Fluorocarbon strings, everyone will be delighted with the strong projection and great sustain of this instrument. Light weight with quality built bracing and an arm bevel make playing this ukulele a pleasure, even for long sessions.
Special "no surprises' note: This ukulele has a 'through the body" string connection at the bridge. Through the body offers several advantages to the more common "tied bridge". It is more modern looking, it is stronger against the high tension of the strings and it produces better sound transfer to the top. However, it is just a tad more difficult to change the strings until you are used to it.
I use a straightened out paper clip with a small hook at the end to 'snag' the strings after I insert them through the top. Then pull the end of the string through the top sound hole. After tying a small bead to the string I pull the string through the bridge until the bead is under the bridge. While this feels a bit strange the first time you do it, it really is not difficult. You can find several Youtube videos on replacing through the bridge strings to give you a better idea of what is involved with changing the strings.
